Philippines: ILO mission to investigate union complaints

Philippines, 17 September 2009: The Philippines Government has accepted a high-level ILO mission later this month, which will investigate the government's compliance with 1948 ILO Convention on the Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organize.  Recently, a union official stated that 60,000 workers have been displaced by the global economic slowdown and the government has not implemented measures to protect workers’ rights.
